Crisp Guide

Last updated: July 23, 2026

The short version

Crisp Guide is built around your kitchen, not your data. You can browse storage information and build grocery hauls without creating an account, and any hauls you save without an account stay on your device.

If you create an account — or upgrade to Crisp Guide Pro — your hauls and preferences are saved to secure cloud storage (Google Firebase) so you can access them anywhere.

To run the app, we assign your device an anonymous identifier even before you create an account. We don't sell your information, share it with advertisers, or use it for targeted advertising. Here's exactly what we collect and why.

1. Who we are

Crisp Guide is developed and operated by Dead Earth Design, LLC ("we," "us," or "our"), based in Los Angeles, California. We are the data controller for personal information processed through the app. If you have questions about this policy, reach us at [email protected].

2. Information we collect

A. Information you provide directly

Account information (optional)

If you create an account, we collect an email address and a first name you choose. Authentication is handled by Firebase — we never receive or store your password.

If you sign up using Sign in with Apple, you can choose to share your real email address or use Apple's Hide My Email feature. If you hide your email, Apple provides us with a private relay address instead of your personal one, and we never see your real address. Apple only shares your name with us the first time you sign in — on later sign-ins, we use the name already on file.

You can use core features, like browsing storage information and building and saving grocery hauls, without an account. Hauls you save without an account are stored on your device and are not uploaded to the cloud unless you create an account or upgrade to Crisp Guide Pro (see "Guest sessions and local storage" below and Section 5).

Anonymous session identifier

To operate the app, we create an anonymous session for your device the first time you open Crisp Guide, even if you never create an account. This anonymous session is assigned a unique identifier that is stored on your device and, for technical operation, a minimal record associated with that identifier is stored in Firebase (see Section 4). This record contains no email, name, or other personal contact information. If you later create an account or subscribe, your existing data is linked to your account.

Your grocery haul data

Items you log, associated notes, and any other content you add to hauls, including a haul title you choose. For account holders and Pro subscribers, this data is linked to your account and stored in Firebase (see Section 4). For guests, it is stored on your device (see "Guest sessions and local storage" below).

Saved recipes

If you use AI recipe features, you may save recipes to your account. A saved recipe includes the dish title, cook time, ingredient list, preparation steps, and an AI-generated hero image URL. We also store a snapshot of the request that generated it — including your haul items (food names and freshness data), meal type, dietary preference, and cuisine selection — so you can regenerate the full recipe later. When you delete a saved recipe, both the recipe and its associated request snapshot are permanently removed from our servers.
